Short Term Work Placement

The following is for a short term work placement on a farm in Ireland

Dairy Enterprise: Currently family run.

Location: South Cork, harbour area

Current Farm Size:280 acres

Herd: 150 milking cows (we gradually downsized over the last 3 years), pedigree Holstein Friesian

Replacement stock:40 heifers & 50 calves bred on farm

Spring Calving: Late Jan to mid-April

Crops: 28 acres maize, 20 acres barley

Parlour: 18 unit Herringbone Dairymaster, auto-clusters and dumpline

Automatic calf feeder.

 Project Participation:

Animal Health Surveillance of Dairy Herds in Cork Harbour Region since inception in 1991 – Current

Dairygold Monitor Group 1914-1918

Dairygold Sustainability Project 2019- Current

Grassland Project by UCD & Queen's Belfast-May 2022 to 2025 (Current)

 

Accomodation : In case of allergies, be aware there are in-door dogs and a cat :)

Room in family home. Mainly home cooking :)

 

Bus stop: 15 minute walk away

 

Full valid |Irish/International Driver’s Licence necessary or Irish Provisional

Wages commensurate with experience. To be discussed.

References needed.
