TC Beattie & Co Ltd
Location: North Cumbria
Contract type: Permanent
A highly motivated herd manager is sought for the management of 340 Holstein cows within a progressive dairy farming business, five miles north of Carlisle.
The high yielding herd is milked three times a day through a 20:40 herringbone swingover parlour. Housed in an up to date, modern, indoor unit, they calve off-unit, all year round.
The appointed person will liaise with, and be supported by, the owners, while leading, motivating and managing a small team of staff. The role includes milking, fertility, feeding and feet along with keeping the associated records. Ability to work with heat detection software is an advantage.
Experience in AI is required and foot-trimming experience is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a strong work ethic are essential.
The farm is part of an extensive, innovative multi-farm dairy business and opportunities for progression would be available for the right person. This role will suit an ambitious individual looking to develop an exciting, successful career in the dairy sector.
Assistance with finding a house locally can be given. A competitive salary will be offered to the successful candidate, subject to experience.
