The 'A Breath Of Fresh Air – Ventilation (Stranraer)' event is one of many events listed. View all events.
A Pneumonia outbreak is estimated to cost between £42 per calf dairy calf and £82 per suckled calf before the unseen cost in reduced lifetime performance of that animal. Prevention is always better than cure whether it’s a dairy or a beef farm.
Jamie Robertson from Livestock Management Systems will take us through optimal shed design for ventilation and air flow and the steps that can be taken to improve existing shed ventilation.
Jo Wallace from Machars Veterinary Services Ltd will discuss how to manage calves during housing to reduce the incidence of pneumonia and other secondary diseases.
We will also hear from host farmer Andrew Robinson on how he manages calf health on an organic system.
A hot lunch will be provided so please remember to book your place.
