AHDB Meeting - Ayrshire: Mastitis causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment

About Millands Farm

  • Millands Farm is 345 ha in Ayrshire, farmed by Wallace and James Hendrie.
  • It is home to 600 Holstein-Friesian cows, on a spring block-calving system.
  • Through joining the Strategic Dairy Farm programme, Wallace and James wanted to increase fertility rates, improve grass production and quality, and improve youngstock growth rates. Within the last year, Millands have seen mastitis increase in their herd, so they are working with James Breen to help prevent cases.
