Join us and Ian Browne of Farm Consultancy Group for a Teams workshop for dairy farmers and farm managers to find out more about what you need to consider when transitioning to Autumn block calving.

You’ll take part in an interactive discussion including what you are trying to achieve, where you are starting from, the potential impact on cash flow, and how you go about making the transition.

We will look in detail at a number of important topics, including:

• Business plan for 5 years’ conversion – and why the timeline
• What happens in years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - milestones
• Assessing your resources – buildings, staff, feed, infrastructure, parlour, muck etc
• Budgets for change – capital costs, saving money
• How to do it – ideally sell all cows and buy in; changing the calving pattern practically ie front-load with heifers, have a break in services to create a gap
• Winter feed – quantity and quality
• Grazing management – learning rotational grazing
• Review – along the way, what happens afterwards? KPIs to keep a block?
