North Esk and Lunan Water Diffuse Pollution Priority Catchment

Mains of Logie , Montrose DD10 9JR

Scotland’s Priority Catchments contain some of the country’s most important waters for conservation, drinking water, bathing and fishing, but they are also at an increased risk from diffuse pollution pressures which lead to poor water quality.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency is currently working on a national programme of work to tackle rural sources of diffuse pollution and encourage best practice across the rural sector.  The North Esk and Lunan rivers will be included in the next round of diffuse pollution priority catchment areas in Scotland.

This meeting will be a farm walk to discuss what farmers can expect when in a Priority Catchment and what measures can be taken on the farm to reduce the risk of water pollution.  We’ll hear from Wull Dryburgh, an Agricultural Pollution Specialist from SEPA, who will talk us through the most common problem areas found on farms and the options available to put these right.

As this event is being held on a farm you are asked to wear warm clothing and clean footwear suitable for disinfection procedures.  Lunch is provided so please book to secure your place using the form:
