The 'New Entrants to Farming: Setting Up A Profitable Farm Business (Wigtownshire)' event is one of many events listed. View all events.
How do you establish a profitable farm business?
Join us for a farm walk at Balcarry Farm, Glenluce at 6.30pm on Tuesday 27th August kindly host by new entrant young farmers, Ewan & Fraser Cameron. They will tell us how they got established in farming and how they juggle the commitments of off farm work with the demands of running a farm business. We will hear about their current farming policy which involves rearing purchased calves to finishing. As a group, we will appraise their current performance looking at various aspects such as stocking rates, forage utilisation, daily liveweight gains, a disease control policy, assess strengths and weaknesses and give ideas for future strategies to take the business forward.
This workshop will give you the skills & confidence to review your own business and the opportunities which may become available to you.
Refreshments will be provided.
Please remember to wear footwear suitable for disinfection.
