The 'Healthy Land, Healthy People, Healthy Profits: Talk on Holistic Management with farmer Tony McQuail' event is one of many events listed. View all events.
What is Holistic Management?
Come along to hear Canadian farmer and educator Tony McQuail explain how this ‘whole farm’ approach to management made his business more productive and profitable, whilst helping the family feel that the farm was ‘working for them’. He will explain key Holistic Management principles such as goal-setting, decision-making, planned grazing, infrastructure planning and soil monitoring. He will share how they impacted on his own family satisfaction, farm sustainability and planning for succession. Talk will be followed by Q&A. Includes screening of Tall Grass Grazing, a short film showing farmers in Scotland trialling mob grazing as part of a holistic management approach.
Free to farmers and land managers. Includes soup and refreshments from 6.30pm. Booking essential.
Funding for this activity is made available through the SRDP Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Fund (which is jointly funded by the Scottish Government and the European Union), with partner funding from Quality Meat Scotland, Forestry Commission Scotland, Innovative Farmers and The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation.
