The 'EuroDairy Webinar - Reducing Ammonia on a Dutch Dairy Farm' event is one of many events listed. View all events.
In this webinar, Dutch dairy farmer Rudie Freriks will share his knowledge and experiences in reducing ammonia emissions of his 37.4ha farm. Together with his wife, Rudie runs an 80-cow dairy farm at Luttenberg, a small village in the province of Overijssel (east of the Netherlands).
Rudie will discuss how various management measures helped him reduce emissions and their economic impact. These include:
Rudie’s farm is located near Natura 2000 area which is sensitive for ammonia deposition. Due to the farms’ location, he has to deal with extra restriction in addition to the national targets for reducing ammonia emissions. Together with other farmers, advisors and researchers, Rudie participated in the project “Field lab Natura 2000”.
The aim of this project was to reduce ammonia emissions by management measures. The challenge was to find practical measures not only reducing ammonia emissions, but also improve profitability.
