Building Business Resilience in Changing Times

The Tinto Hotel, 44 Bigger Road, Symington, ML12 6FT

Join us for the next meeting of our Scottish all-year-round calving (AYR) strategic dairy farm where we will be looking at what drives a highly resilient, successful dairy farm business.

These are challenging times for the dairy industry and dairy farming businesses must be resilient to respond positively and rapidly.

The AHDB Horizon report ‘Preparing for Change’ concluded that the top performing dairy farms are earning more than four times as much money as similar farms in the bottom quartile. This meeting will look at what the top-performing dairy farmers are doing differently to others.

William Baillie will share his approach to building a resilient business. Senior Farm Business Consultant and Dairy Farmer, Tony Evans, will delve into areas of William’s business to highlight examples and identify areas for further refinement. AHDB Dairy Market Analysts will discuss the current dairy market in Scotland and the UK, and the importance of business agility in line with change.

In the meeting we will discuss:

  • What makes a resilient dairy farm business?

  • The key factors that differentiate top-performing dairy farms

  • The current milk market in Scotland and the UK

  • Steps taken at Hillhead of Covington to build a resilient business

  • Current business performance at Hillhead of Covington against key performance indicators (KPIs) for AYR calving herds

Who should attend?

Dairy farmers wishing to master business resilience. Anyone who is keen to build their confidence in their own business and learn from others the steps and changes needed to help make it more resilient.
