The Programme: AHDB is running a series of Workshops using qualified Master Trainers to provide farmers with the opportunity to enhance their skills and optimise management using cow signal techniques to recognise and understand the body language of the cow. Using conscious observation back to your own herd, you can judge your own herd and assess your own management and improve your ability to recognise illness and discomfort at an early stage. Outcomes: By attending the CowSignals workshop you can expect the following outcomes:
To recognise and interpret the body language of cows within a herd
To assess your current knowledge of cow management and behaviour
To analyse the signals, identifying methods to improve overall health and welfare of the cow and develop overall performance
To pinpoint practical ways of implementing the techniques to your own herd
The Workshop: The workshop will be a practical on farm session and limited to a maximum of 15 attendees and will run from 10:00 to 15:00.
Content will include:
Aims - Prevent disease and tunnel vision by learning to see and understand CowSignals CowSignals concept – the CowSignals diamond and the six freedoms of the pasture Risk areas, Risk animals, and Unexplained Notable Observations
